1 cup water
1/2 cup white sugar
1 (12 ounce) package fresh cranberries
1 orange peeled and pureed
1 Granny Smith apple - peeled cored and diced
1 Bosc pear - peeled cored and diced
1 cup chopped dried mixed fruit (eg golden raisins, mango slices, apricots, dark cherries
1 cup chopped pecans
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 cup Grand Marnier or Rum (optional)
- can be frozen
- leftovers can be used as:
- topping for crepes, pancakes
– over ice cream
– over oatmeal
- on toast, crackers, or bagels with cream cheese
- over baked Brie or Camembert
– frozen for later
– great for turkey & pork
In a medium saucepan, boil water and sugar until the sugar dissolves.
Reduce the heat to simmer, and stir in cranberries, pureed orange, apple, pear, dried fruit, pecans, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
Cover, and simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cranberries burst.
Remove from heat, stir in optional liquor.
Let cool to room temperature.

Used smaller-sized navel oranges pureed to juice and pulp in a food processor, and golden raisins, apricots, mango slices, and dark cherries as the dried fruit (all but the raisins chopped in the food processor with steel knife blade), and Granny Smith apples and Bosc pears cut by hand.
